DHS Secretary Meets Virtually with Chinese Counterpart

Two countries reconnect to counter the spread of illegal drugs.

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas recently held a virtual meeting with China’s Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong, joined by multiple officials from both the U.S. and Peoples Republic of China (PRC). Though the relationship between the two countries is strained on multiple fronts, President Biden and President Xi opened relational doors in November to address the global spread of synthetic drug use.

“Participants discussed the importance of cooperating on key law enforcement issues, including combatting the illicit flow of synthetic drugs such as fentanyl and their precursor chemicals, by increasing information sharing and enhancing standards for chemical exports,” the Department of Homeland Security stated. “Secretary Mayorkas stressed the importance of using the momentum from President Biden’s November meeting with PRC President Xi Jinping to enhance counternarcotics collaboration.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Mayorkas as he discusses solutions to the global spread of synthetic drugs.
  • For the president and members of his administration to be discerning as they engage leaders in China on global issues.
